1. Overview

YouTube AllowList Guard ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that allows users to maintain an approved list of YouTube channels. All other channels are blocked from playing. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension stores, where it is stored, and how it is used.

2. Data We Collect

The Extension stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync API:

• Approved channel list — the YouTube channel handles or IDs you add to your allowlist (e.g. @ChannelName)
• Extension settings — your preferences such as block mode, feed filter options, and toggle state
• PIN hash — if you set a PIN, a SHA-256 hash of that PIN (never the PIN itself) is stored locally
• Usage statistics — a local counter of how many videos have been blocked (stored on-device only)

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information
• We do not track which YouTube videos or channels you watch
• We do not log your browsing history or activity
• We do not transmit any data to external servers, APIs, or third parties
• We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking tools of any kind
• We do not use cookies

4. How Data Is Stored

All data is stored exclusively via Chrome's storage.sync API. This means your settings are saved in your Google account's Chrome sync storage — the same mechanism used by Chrome itself for bookmarks and preferences. This data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. The Extension developers have no access to this data at any time.

5. Permissions Used

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions, each used only for its stated purpose:

• storage — to save your approved channel list and settings locally
• tabs — to detect the active YouTube tab so the popup can identify the current channel
• scripting — to inject scripts into YouTube pages to detect channel identities and block non-approved content
• host permission (youtube.com) — to operate exclusively on YouTube pages

No permission is used to collect, monitor, or transmit user data.

6. Third-Party Services

The Extension does not integrate with any third-party service, API, or analytics platform. It operates entirely within your browser using only Chrome's built-in extension APIs.

7. Children's Privacy

YouTube AllowList Guard is designed in part to help parents and guardians manage the YouTube content accessible to children. The Extension itself does not collect any data from users of any age.

8. Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of the Extension after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
